The following is a reproduction of the records kept by Richard F. Hoyer over the lifetime of this snake up until she was transferred to me in the Spring of 2001.  Only minor edits have been added and in most cases are noted with [ ] .  My comments have been added in Italics.

[First time found] at old Raab Mill site in South Corvallis near Marysville Golf Course.  Length: 27 ½ inches, Weight: 130.8 grams.  Large incompletely healed wound at left side 6” from head and healed scar on opposite right side.

Several months earlier, neighborhood kids showed interest in what Dad was doing when lifting boards at the Raab Mill site.  He explained to them about the snakes, and what he was doing with them.  Shortly thereafter, snakes that were commonly seen were no longer found.  It became apparent(likely)  that these kids were catching and keeping all the snakes.  For this reason, and the fact that the site was becoming overgrown and hard for her to find food, she was relocated to Camp Adair north of Corvallis about 10 miles from her original home.

RAAB Female #1 died June of 2006 after a steady decline in health over several months. She refused to eat any longer, and had troubles breathing. She died in her hometown of Corvallis, OR. Her body will be deposited in a natural history museum and be preserved for science
